I saw this beautiful rutilated quartz at the gem and jewelry show and I had to buy it. In the picture there is a little shadowing at the top of the cabochon I didn't want to get rid of it because then the cabochon would lose it's dimension.

I also used a 6mm garnet colored corundum and sterling silver.

this is gorgeous, my only worry is the angular shapes, it's fine around the stone itself, but the bits that stick out to the sides and 'curl' in a bit seem a little too harsh, like they don't quite fit in, although the combinations of materials is beautiful. ^^

That is a gorgeous stone. Very nice! I think the angles of the silver wire set off the angles in the quartz beautifully.
